Mental Map

Mental Maps are a person’s perception of a world. I say “a world” because it could be their view of a world that exists in something like a book, or it could be the real world in which we exist. The scale varies with each person as does the distortion and all map features. No one’s view is the same and no one’s view is exactly the same as the earth’s true shape.


The map shown is a Mental Map of the World in the book Name of the Wind. This is a map that was created by the author Patrick Rothfuss and his view of the world he created for his book. Interestingly, the map resembles Europe.
